If your mind was unstable, you can imagine where your ship would be steered to! Keeping your mind is essential especially after a divorce. It is your mind that all those negative suicidal bad thoughts come into and controlling those thoughts is a role you have to take very seriously.
Remember that thinking bad thoughts is not in itself a bad thing. What is bad however is if you dwell on those bad thoughts and begin to act on them. You cannot escape the bad thoughts that will come after you go through a divorce. I guarantee you that those negative thoughts will come. Here are some things that you can do to steer your mind in the right direction;
Time out: Take out some minutes each day and find a quiet spot to sit and reflect. Deliberately empty your mind of the negative thoughts that you have replace them with good thoughts. Remember that it is the side that you feed more that wins.
Stop worrying: Worrying never did solve any problem. Desist from fretting the instant you realize that is what you are doing.
Write: Writing down your feelings in a journal can really be helpful. It can help you figure out exactly what it is that you ought to do to combat it.
Focus: Focus more on those things that make you happy than on those things that don’t. Do what you love doing more often.
Divert: If you start feeling any emotions of anger, try and divert it in to something more positive such as exercising. Convert negative energy into positive energy.
Set goals: Setting a definite goal can help take your mind off certain negative emotions and slowly push you forward with each goal accomplishment. The most important aspect of meditation however is accepting the reality. Acceptance begins the healing process.
